    Printed documentation (pdf?)

Is there anywhere I can get a downloadable version of the xceed documentation, especially the datagrid for wpf, that I can print out.  (I mean a pdf or other easily printable version.)

    Thanks.

I will see what I can do Smile If I can manage to get a printable PDF file, I will post it.

Thanks.  I know it's not the trend these days to have printable docs for software, but I find it's a big help in understanding programming interfaces.

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

I have been able to generate a PDF file; however, the reference documentation (API reference) is not included in it. I have contacted the company that created the help software that I use and I am hopeful they will provide me with a workaround.

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

Innovasys tells me that including the reference documentation (created from DocumentX) is not possible as the resulting PDF would be "too big". Do you want the documentation in PDF format without the class reference?

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

Perhaps you could release several PDF? One for reference documentation and one for class reference?

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

DocumentX does not support creating PDFs so I do not have an "easy way" to make one for the class reference. Sad

I will keep looking to see if I can find a solution.

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

Thanks.  I don't mind the size of the file, but two versions of the pdf is also fine, or whatever is possible.  You can create a pdf from whatever you can print to a windows printer (using pdf writers out there, such as www.fineprint.com ); the problem I find with them is that .chm and other help files don't easily print the entire help file as a single job, so you have to repeat the print command a hundred times for each section of the help file.  (Also, the formatting is often bad unless it's prepared with pdfs in mind.)

p.s. DocumentX's maker sells something called HelpStudio3 that produces pdfs: http://www.innovasys.com/purchase/

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

Actually, I already use HS and import my DocX content into it. The problem is that the PDF created by HS does not include the imported DocX documentation Sad

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

Anything that allows one to print the documentation easily is fine; it's just that pdf is the most common.  (And it does seem to me that Innovasys should be able to get its own document formats to print to its own pdf convertor!)

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

With the 3.0 structure if the documentation, you could theoretically print the entire Xceed DataGrid for WPF book; however it may not all be formatted correctly.

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

I tried that before posting, but there is no way (that I can see) to print the whole documentation out, only page by page.

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

Is there some part of the documentation that will be made available in the future in a printable format?  Thanks.

    Re: Printed documentation (pdf?)

    Namaste!

As I thought "gee, this would be a geat tool to make" I decided to Google the idea.

I searched on ".chm to document conversion" and turned up LOTS of relevant results.

You may want to check them out!
